Your self-awareness matters more than any other leadership skill you will ever be taught for one simple reason; if I give you a hammer and even remind you that not everything is a nail, you will still be prone to using the hammer every time you see a nail. Without awareness, you will default to using the only tool you feel you have available and to defaulting to comfortable patterns.
