In this week’s podcast, we start our two part episode on living in our “genius” and using our signature strengths as we do! This is one of our favorite topics and we are so excited to bring this to the show. You will definitely want to listen to this week’s show and also, next week’s because we go deeper into the content. So, this week we start off by making a distinction between what we “do” and who we are “being”. Very often a person’s zone of genius is a particular quality of who they are being too. Our genius isn’t only about our talents and skills but also the parts of our being that we bring to the world and share with others. Nevertheless, we certainly have things that we “do” better than others and also that we really do have zones of genius with the things that we can do during our day. It isn’t all about struggling to get our tasks done but it can feel like that when we are out of our genius zone.
We talk about four different zones which are the areas of incompetence, competence, excellence and genius. When we are in incompetence it is something that we don’t do well at all and everyone else does it better. In competence, we can do the thing but everyone else still does it better than us. In excellence we do the thing better than anyone else and we get a lot of kudos for doing it but it feels effortful for us and we don’t enjoy it too much. And finally, in our genius, the thing that we do is so easy we can’t even believe that others aren’t able to do it and, that we could never get paid for it. So, if you’re curious about learning about your genius, listen in to this week’s show.
