In this podcast of The Super Fantastic Leadership Show, Katie and I are at it again. This time we explore the idea of authenticity and more importantly, the practical applications. Also, you get to hear “bossy pants”; two of our favorite personas. We don’t speak about authenticity in a moral or ethical way but more from the perspective of keeping ourselves whole and complete in our expression versus the techniques we can typically employ which involves repression.
The conversation about authenticity really came on the heals of many corporate scandals that begin in the early 2000s. While this was in the thread of at least not lying, we are taking this concept much deeper in this episode. Congruence is the name of the game. Does your expression on the outside match what is occurring on the inside? Imagine being able to be with your teams in a way in which they can express their joy and fear in a way that is open and free of blame? Authenticity is all about connection to ourselves and others. This is what leads to the highest levels of creative energy too.
